Woman Defined
6 of my 7 daughters and Me!
Over forty years ago, I wrote a musical presentation called, “Woman, Wife, Mother: A Song to Sing.” When I was writing a new introduction for this presentation, five words that begin with the letter “B” came into my mind. I decided to look up the dictionary definition of these five words (The World Book Dictionary, 1987). Each of us can define the woman we want to be today, tomorrow, and forever. This is my definition:
Woman Defined
WOMAN—
BRIGHT. BEAUTIFUL. BRAVE. BOLD. BENEVOLENT.
BRIGHT—
Intelligent or quick-witted
BEAUTIFUL—
Possessing qualities that give great pleasure to see, hear, or think about
BRAVE—
Exhibiting courage or courageous endurance
BOLD—
Imaginative; beyond the usual limits of conventional thought or action
BENEVOLENT—
Charitable; desiring to help others
