The true Spirit of Easter is the sure knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He lived. He died. He was resurrected. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we will all be resurrected and be reunited with our loved ones once again someday. Jesus is the “Master Healer” who heals us from both sin and sorrow. As you read this excerpt, “The Master Healer” by Carole Stephens, reflect on how you have felt Christ’s power and influence in your life.

The Master Healer

As we increase our understanding of the doctrine of Christ, we soon discover that we are developing a deeper understanding of “the great plan of happiness.” We also recognize that our Savior, Jesus Christ, is at the very heart of the plan.

We, in fact, often find our faith deepened and our relationship with Heavenly Father and His Son refined in adversity. Let me share three examples.

  1. First, the Savior, the Master Healer, has the power to change our hearts and give us permanent relief from the sorrow caused by our own sin.

  2. Second, the Master Healer can comfort and strengthen us when we experience pain because of the unrighteous actions of others.

  3. Third, the Master Healer can comfort and sustain us as we experience painful “realities of mortality,” such as disaster, mental illness, disease, chronic pain, and death.

You don’t have to continue to carry the burden of sorrow caused by sin—alone.

You don’t have to carry the pain caused by the unrighteous actions of others—alone.

You don’t have to experience the painful realities of mortality—alone.

I love the following scriptures from the Bible that testify of Jesus Christ’s healing power. I know I have felt Him heal my soul on many different occasions when no one else could. I know He lives!

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
— Isaiah 53: 4-5
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
— Psalm 147: 3
…I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee…
— 2 Kings 20: 5
